Microsoft retires him after almost 30 years

The creators of Windows sentenced the end of one of the historical programs of their operating system: WordPad. Halfway between the well-known Word, much more complete in terms of functionality and solutions, and Notepad, a simple plain text annotator; the WordPad came to an end.

“WordPad is no longer updated and will be removed in a future version of Windows,” the Microsoft post reads. “We recommend Microsoft Word for rich text documents like .doc and .rtf and Windows Notepad for plain text documents like .txt.”

The decision is understood, in part, due to the low use of the application. Given so much offer available to process texts, the WordPad had been forgotten.

Presented in society in the Windows 95 version, the program had some functional improvements in the different versions of the operating system created by Bill Gates. But it never came to dethrone the powerful Word although, it is fair to say, many times it might have gotten more than one user out of trouble who had no other option installed on their PC.

The complete removal of the program is not specified, although it is estimated that it will be in the version of Windows 12 next year.
