In the version 0.71.0 of Microsoft Powertoys that has now been released, the developers have improved the preview functions, among other things. They have also updated several parts of the toolbox.

For the new version, the programmers have focused in particular on stability and improvements, they say. The preview function now also works with archives. A crash of the Powertoys Run function due to a missing App.Dark.png file no longer occurs. The registry preview can now be set as the default program for opening .reg files. The title bar of the Powertoys settings now also obeys the Windows 11 guidelines regarding appearance.

The Powertoys developers also list that they encountered an infinite loop, delays such as when checking for updates, a settings crash when opening a second Powertoys process, network errors when checking for updates within virtual machines, and a problem with the Powertoys started with a lower than normal priority. The packages for some software components are in newer versions.

About a month ago Microsoft published the hotfix release 0.70.1 of the Powertoys. In it, the programmers temporarily corrected some of the most annoying bugs, which has now been officially incorporated into the new version.
