According to information from the The Vergea Microsoft will no longer manufacture mice, keyboards and webcams under its own brand name. Now, all of the company’s accessories will be sold under the brand Surface.

By note, Dan Laycocksenior communications manager at Microsoft, confirmed this information to the American website:

Going forward, we are focusing on our portfolio of Windows PC accessories under the Surface brand. We will continue to offer a variety of Surface-branded PC accessories — including mice, keyboards, pens, docks, adaptive accessories and more.

Despite the company’s decision, it should be noted that it already produces mice e keyboards with Surface branding. However, these gadgets are sold at slightly steep prices; for now, there is no information if Microsoft has plans to launch cheaper lines.

Another point worth mentioning: all webcams offered are being discontinued. The giant only offers a model that costs US$800the Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera — which, according to Microsoft, is “designed for hybrid teams and optimized for remote participants”.

Laycock also said that accessories still available “will continue to be sold in existing markets at current prices, while supplies last.” The Microsoft brand has been on the market since the company launched its first mouse (in 1983) and it has certainly marked the lives of many fans of the company.
