This is important news from Microsoft. Panos Panay is leaving the company after working there for almost two decades. This is in fact what the main person concerned, until now responsible for the Surface range and the development of Windows, announced in a message published on X/Twitter.
After 19 incredible years at Microsoft, I decided to turn the page and write the next chapter. I am forever grateful for my time at Microsoft and the amazing people I had the honor of building products with.
The future will tell us whether the Redmond firm will be able to manage the transition well with its successor. This could be quite a blow for Microsoft, which is thus separating itself from one of its most charismatic figures – if not THE most charismatic.
The “father of Surface”
Panos Panay was not only the “father of Surface” as the press sometimes called him, including Frandroid. He was also the one who symbolized Microsoft’s desire to refresh its brand image. Rather comfortable expressing himself in front of an audience, he strives each time to energize his conferences – with a witticism, a touch of humor or variations of intonation – to make them entertaining.
