Microsoft makes a mistake and announces Final Fantasy XIV open beta at the wrong time

This Tuesday, Microsoft made an incorrect announcement on Xbox Wire, saying that the open beta for the next Xbox version of Final Fantasy XIV was now available. The publication was quickly withdrawn, as clarified by Square Enix during the Final Fantasy XIV 2024 Fan Festival in Japan.

The developer stated that the estimated launch of this test on Xbox would be in February 2024. Microsoft also apologized on Xbox Wire social media for the mistake in the announcement and promised to say, soon, what the correct launch date will be.

The article in question was already incomplete as it did not offer essential information, such as guidance on how to access the Xbox Open Beta. During the time it was online, players were unable to find the beta on the Xbox Store or the Xbox Insider app.

The content of the publication was limited to highlighting the popularity of Final Fantasy XIV in the series and as a beloved MMORPG, with more than 30 million players.

The article also included a link to the FFXIV Beginner Tips video series on YouTube, mentioning that the beta would cover all content from the free trial version of Final Fantasy XIV, including all gameplay content up until the Stormblood expansion.

Additionally, beta participants were assured that all progress made would carry over when the full Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Final Fantasy XIV were released.
