Microsoft launches Windows 365 Frontline, including three Cloud PCs

After spending a period in the public preview, Windows 365 Frontline was generally released by Microsoft this Wednesday, a system aimed at companies, which seeks to offer more flexibility in the purchase of Cloud PCs licenses, as it can be divided between multiple users.

Users can now avail the service offerings from any device. This iteration of Cloud PCs—allowing access to a virtual copy of your PC hosted in the cloud—attempts to address the needs of part-time and shift workers by eliminating the need to share physical devices. For every Windows 365 frontline license purchased, it is possible to provision three different cloud machines, which cannot be used simultaneously.

“As employees log in, the Frontline Cloud PC powers on and a license is used while working. As they log off, the shared license is returned to the shared license pool and the Frontline Cloud PC shuts down. Any one of the users within a defined group can access your Frontline Cloud PC without requiring a defined schedule,” Microsoft states in the release note.

The service allows users to access their Frontline Cloud PC from any device, regardless of the user’s location. The system has helped companies significantly reduce operating costs, especially for professionals such as healthcare practitioners, consultants, customer service representatives and more.

Unlike Windows 365 Enterprise, where the firm needs to get each employee their own license, Windows 365 Frontline supports license sharing among multiple users.
