Microsoft announced artificial intelligence products aimed at helping healthcare organizations easily access and learn from information collected by doctors and hospitals.

Microsoft has developed new tools for healthcare in its data and analytics platform Fabric To integrate data from sources such as electronic health records, images, laboratory systems, and medical devices, so organizations can unify and access it in the same place.

Microsoft indicated that the new tools help eliminate the process of manual searching these time-consuming sources. Integrating disparate data helps health systems improve care and see more patients.

The company also introduced new tools for healthcare organizations within Azure AI services. Microsoft provides an artificial intelligence chatbot called Azure AI Health Bot that can pull information from the health organization’s internal data as well as external sources, such as the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health.

The chatbot is used to help employees within an organization ask questions, such as how to treat a specific disease and what the internal protocols and processes are.

Microsoft revealed three models within Azure AI Health Insights that provide tools to help doctors, nurses, and researchers make informed decisions.

The first model – called the Patient Timeline – gives doctors a simple, chronological overview of a patient’s medical history using generative AI to integrate information from disparate, unstructured data sources.

The second model — called Clinical Report Simplification — allows doctors to use generative AI to simplify reports filled with complex medical jargon into language that patients may better understand.

The third model – called Radiology Insights – aims to help doctors and radiologists by identifying errors and discrepancies that may appear in various reports, and the model can also provide follow-up recommendations.

Microsoft’s new healthcare tools within Azure AI help improve patient experiences and allow doctors to focus on providing the best care.
