Microsoft (NASDAQ:) has officially stopped supporting Windows 8.1, according to the company’s announcement on its blog.
The company said that following January 10, users of the system will not be provided with technical assistance for any reason, nor will it provide updates for programs and security systems. However, a computer running this operating system will continue to function, but without updates.
In this regard, the company recommends upgrading to a version of the operating system that is still supported, for example, to Windows 11.
Also, starting today, users will not be able to purchase and install apps and games from the Microsoft Store on their Windows 8.1 computers, the company added.
Microsoft introduced the Windows 8.1 operating system in 2013 and this system is mostly intended for touch screen computers, however, it also supports classic computers.
