Redfall Unfortunately, it has been one of the most disappointing titles at a general level so far this year. The vampire-themed shooter developed by Arkane Austin has not managed to win the hearts of the specialized press or users, something that the studio’s developers foresaw coming, since, according to some anonymous employees, the title had during its conception “an unclear direction” and suffered “important casualties”. Despite this small slip when it comes to Microsoft’s catalog of exclusives, the company has no plans to close the developer.

“That’s the plan right now. They’re working hard on updates and continued content for Redfall“, replied Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, when asked in an interview with Axios media if Microsoft contemplated the possibility of closing the studio following the poor reception of Redfall. “We are grateful to see that millions of you have explored the picturesque but dangerous open world of Redfall. We recognize that we still have work to do, and we plan to address as much as we can.as fast as we can,” he added.

Booty wants Arkane Austin to have a chance to ‘deliver the game they had in mind’

“It was a mistake. but I want to support them so that they can continue working to offer the game they had in mind. I feel responsible that we might have done a better job with Arkane,” Booty concluded.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, recently admitted to Kinda Funny Games that they were under-managed: “We didn’t do a good job early on of getting Arkane Austin involved to really help them understand what it meant to be a part of Xbox, and use some of our internal resources to help them move on that journey even faster. They are a very talented team and I will fully bet on them to put on another great game.”
