Microsoft: Disabling these features in Windows 11 improves gaming performance

Microsoft said that two settings in Windows 11 can affect game performance because these settings are enabled by default. Microsoft allows you to disable these options, but there are reasons why you might want to keep them.

However, if your gaming PC is less than stellar, it might be worth a try.

Microsoft has published a new support document detailing the two features and their potential impact. The company found that memory integrity and the Virtual Machine Platform (VMP) affected gaming performance for some users.

VMP does almost everything written on the packaging – it provides virtual machine services for Windows 11.

However, memory integrity plays a fairly large role because it’s responsible for checking for new drivers and making sure they come from a reliable source, Digitartlends said.

It protects your system from malicious code, so you may want to avoid turning this feature off, and if you do, it’s a good idea to turn it back on following your gaming session is over.

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t go into any details regarding the extent of the problem, only stating that it occurs “in some scenarios and some gaming hardware configurations.”

And if you’re experiencing poor frame rates or other issues while playing games, there might be a number of reasons – but if you’re a Windows 11 user, you can first try to improve your gaming experience in this fairly simple way. .

Before you start disabling things, keep in mind that Microsoft recommends that you turn these settings back on later, adding “If a device is turned off, it may be vulnerable to threats.” If you want to shoot it regardless of Microsoft’s warnings, here’s how.

How to disable memory integration and VMP

To turn off memory integration, go to the Start menu, press the Windows key, and type “Kernel Isolation” on the taskbar.

Select it when it appears and turn off Memory Integrity while you are on this page.

Microsoft recommends that you restart your device followingwards.

Disabling VMP is just as easy. Again, go to the Start Menu and type “turn Windows features on or off” in the search box.

Once in Windows Features, find and uncheck Virtual Machine Platform.

Press OK to complete these changes and restart your computer.

If you don’t see any benefit in turning these two settings off, it’s best to leave them turned on.
