Microsoft Defender has been reported to be causing excessive memory usage. In some cases, during authorization in the system, a black screen may appear, preventing further loading for regarding 2 minutes. Users have also reported that, intermittently, Word 2016 and later versions of the application may not start or load for a long time. The Event Viewer behaves in a similar way.
Apparently, the problem with excessive memory usage is related to a bug that leads to a memory leak, which Microsoft was already aware of. It is assumed that this problem was first fixed in Windows 10 build 1.363.177.0 and then the developers released a fix. Judging by user reports, the problem with excessive memory usage is once more relevant, so we should expect that Microsoft will release a patch to fix it soon.
