Microsoft believes that its acquisition of Activision would benefit users

Criticized by the American competition policeman, Microsoft argued Thursday that its plan to buy video game publisher Activision would be beneficial for both gamers and other companies in the sector.

The multinational Microsoft announced last January that it wanted to buy the video game giant Activision, which has 154 million monthly active users, for an estimated amount of 69 billion US dollars (93 billion Canadian dollars ).

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has engaged at the beginning of the month a procedure aimed at blocking this takeover, saying that it fears a serious violation of competition.

Microsoft has filed an appeal to convince a judge of the instance to authorize its takeover project.

Brad Smith, chairman of the US computer giant, announced earlier this month that Microsoft had offered the FTC to sign an executive order that the company would commit to provide access to games from the Call of Duty series to Nintendo for a decade.

The acquisition of a single game by the manufacturer of the third console on the market cannot upset such a competitive industry. Especially if the manufacturer has made it clear that they will not block (access to) the gameexplains Microsoft in the appeal filed on Thursday.
