Microsoft begins to ban emulation within its consoles because of Nintendo games

Xbox Series X and S and Xbox One users who use the console to use emulators have been reporting that the consoles have suddenly started blocking the use of these applicationssending notices that it is no longer allowed to use this type of program.

Specifically, the tweets that have appeared regarding this problem mention that the emulators that they had downloaded directly from the Xbox store stopped working, sending a message that mentions “The game or app you are trying to launch violates Microsoft Store policy and is not supported”. This situation complicates the experience for gamers who enjoy retro games that could be accessed using these programs that used to be allowed by Xbox and Microsoft.

Regarding this problem, Alyanna McKenna, a Microsoft worker in the Azure division, published in a tweet the copy of an email from another worker whose name is not specified, which mentions that the reason why the use of emulators on Xbox consoles is being prohibited is because of their ability to allow Nintendo games, and that, although emulation is not illegal, it can cause legal problems with the Japanese company and other possible victims. In addition, some emulators request more permissions than they require for their correct use, which goes against the security of the players.

While this is bad news for Xbox users who enjoy playing retro classics that can’t be tried any other way, there’s still the possibility of use developer mode to bypass this crash, Since the mode is designed to create a protected environment from the outside that allows developers to safely test things, it is therefore the best option to continue emulating from the console.
