Microsoft begins rolling out the updated version of Media Player to more users

A few months ago, Microsoft released the new Media Player app for Windows 11, and so far, the app was only available to Windows 11 users who were signed up to the Windows Insider Dev Channel.

The company announced that the redesigned Media Player is also coming to the Beta channel, where the Media Player app replaces Microsoft’s default music player app – Groove Music in Windows 11 and Windows 10.

The company has revealed that the user’s Groover Music library and playlists will automatically move to the new app, where the dedicated playback view features album art and artist photos that will appear in both the full screen and the mini player.

The app also includes support for browsing, managing, and also watching your local video collection. All content in your computer’s Music and Video folders will automatically appear in the app’s library, but users can also tell Media Player where to look for additional content in the app’s settings.

Microsoft claimed that the app has also been improved for accessibility, with an improved keyboard shortcut, access key support for keyboard users, and other assistive technologies.

Apart from this, the company has also introduced a redesigned Notepad and Photos app to more users recently, and the Notepad app comes with an updated user interface including rounded corners, Mica, and more.

One of the most anticipated features of the new app is the dark mode. By default, Notepad will adapt to the user’s system theme preferences, but they can change this option themselves on the new Settings page which is the new home page for font options as well.

The company has also redesigned the search and replace experience on the app, apart from this, the app now comes with multi-level undo support, and the redesigned Photos app on Windows 11 comes with new features in the editing option like crop tool, aspect ratio, and more.

The application also allows users to adjust the brightness of the image with new encoding options, and users can also rotate the image vertically using the application, and the rotation tool previously worked only horizontally.
