Microsoft has announced that it has stopped software support for one of the most popular versions of Windows, which is still supported by many around the world.

And the company indicated in its blog on the Internet that “as of January 10, it has stopped technical support for Windows 8.1 systems, and that devices that operate in these systems will continue to work, but their users will not obtain technical support or updates for the programs provided by these systems.”

According to the company, as of the aforementioned date, users of Windows 8.1 systems can no longer obtain paid applications from Microsoft’s online stores or install these applications on their devices through those stores.

Microsoft had launched Windows 8.1 systems in 2013, and indicated that these systems came to address the main problems in Windows 8 systems, however, the company decided to support users with additional features and launched Windows 10 systems in 2015, following which it launched Windows 11, which gave users modern user interfaces for computers. And provide them with technologies that were not available in previous “Windows” systems.

Many experts believe that Microsoft is seeking to push computer users to use modern “Windows” versions to provide greater smoothness for computers in compatibility with new smart phones and mobile devices, and with the aim of increasing user data protection from hacking.
