Micron 2400 – a tiny 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD in just 3cm for laptops

Micron presents the world’s first 3cm QLC 176-layer SSD with a capacity of 2TB, the Micron 2400.

the Micron 2400 is a new SSD very small which only measures 22 x 30 mm and therefore adopt a very compact 2230 format, particularly interesting for integration into thin and light laptops such as Ultrabooks.

According to Micron:

The 2400 SSD helps reduce battery demand with active standby power consumption that’s 50% less than the previous generation for hours of productivity and entertainment on battery power

The brand tells us that it is the first SSD in the world to adopt the standard SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 (NVMe 1.4) with NAND flash memory QLC (Quad-Level Cell, 4 bits) de 176 couches.

It should be noted that Micron also declines its Micron 2400 SSD in editions 22x42mm and much more classic 22x80mm.

The Micron 2400 benefits from a 256-bit AES hardware encryption and is of course compatible SecureBoot, with TCG Opal 2.1 and Pyrite 201 support.

The 2400 SSD provides a robust user experience in a variety of use cases thanks in part to Micron’s Host Memory Buffer technology which allows the host to flexibly optimize performance.

here are the specifications announced of this new SSD which consumes less than 150mW at rest, and can of course also be embedded in more classic laptops:

512 Go : 4,200 MB / s read (400,000 IOPS), 1,800 MB / s write (400,000 IOPS), endurance 150 TB of written data

1 To : 4500 Mo / s read (600,000 IOPS), 3600 MB / s write (650,000 IOPS), endurance 300 TB of data written
