Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu said that Apple’s microLED Apple Watch is expected to be launched by the end of 2025.
In a note to investors, Jeff Pu said that the first Apple Watch with a microLED display will be launched in late 2025. Advanced display technology provides improved brightness, color reproduction and viewing angles, making images look more like “painted on glass.”
It has recently been revealed that the next worthy upgrade for Apple Watch Ultra users will be Apple’s customized microLED display technology. Apple’s plans to equip the Apple Watch Ultra with a microLED display have been widely confirmed, starting with a report from display analyst Ross Young in January.
After initially targeting the release of the device in 2024, Ross Young pushed that prediction back to the second half of 2025. On the other hand, there are also reports that it is in the 2024 time frame. TrendForce said that due to supply chain adjustments, Apple’s first microLED display will be installed on the new Apple Watch Ultra in 2026. Many analysts have revealed that the microLED Apple Watch Ultra will be launched in 2025, which may be launched earlier than previously expected.
The microLED display is expected to be 2.12 inches in size, which is 10% larger than the display of the current Apple Watch Ultra. Mark Gurman reports that Apple may plan to bring custom microLED displays to iPhones, iPads, and Macs following debuting the technology on the new Apple Watch Ultra. He believes Apple’s long-term plan is to introduce microLED displays to all of its key products. Multiple reports claim that Apple does have similar plans to transition multiple product lines to custom microLED displays to reduce reliance on Samsung displays.
