The new model of the Chinese mining machine manufacturer is capable of a speed of 320 TH/s, which surpasses the performance of the similar machine line of competitor Bitmain.
Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer MicroBT presented three new mining machines at the Bitcoin2023 conference in Miami. One of these is the most powerful model currently available on the market.
The new model, WhatsMiner M53S++, offers 320 Terahash/Second (TH/s) computing power with 22 Joule/Terahash (J/T) efficiency. It’s more powerful than its rival Bitmain’s equivalent, that is Antminer S19 XP Hydro. It can achieve a maximum of 257 TH/s. However, MicroBT’s new savior is less efficient, as Antminer can operate with 20.8 J/T.
The other two models presented are the air-cooled M50S++, which has a computing power of 150 TH/s, and the immersion-cooled M56S++, which is capable of up to 230 TH/s. The efficiency of both machines is 22 J/TH.
The company also released a new short film to introduce the new miners, which can be viewed via the YouTube video below.
One of MicroBT’s main motivations when designing the new machines was primarily the utilization of a sustainable energy source. Because the massive energy consumption of miners is constantly hotly debated and criticized. “Faced with the energy crisis and global warming, our company believes that we need to introduce better solutions, such as the use of green energy, as a source of energy for bitcoin mining.” – says the company’s press release.
On this front, MicroBT is also working to adjust the voltage and frequency of WhatsMiner to better suit the use of solar energy. According to Zuoxing Yang, the founder and CEO of MicroBT, green energy sources correspond to the idea represented by the decentralization of the Bitcoin network. He also pointed out that more than 90% of the heat generated by mining machines can be collected. This might then be used for various other uses such as space heating, industrial steam or even fish farming.
