A new micro-earthquake shook Mexico City this Sunday night, specifically the Magdalena Contreras mayor’s office.

According to the National Seismological, the magnitude 1.3 earthquake was located northeast of the Magdalena Contreras mayor’s office at 11:05 p.m.

Users on social networks assure that the movement might be felt in different areas of Mexico City, from mild to somewhat strong.

During the last weeks, there have been constant micro-seisms in the Magdalena Contreras mayor’s office. However, none of these movements have caused damage.

Although the movement of earthquakes with an epicenter in Mexico City is perceived by citizens, the 97 sensors that the seismic alarm system has are located in the states of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán Guerrero, Oaxaca and Puebla.

This, because its main objective is to detect the earthquakes that are generated in the Cocos plate. Mexico City is not located on the limits of said plate, but it does suffer the effects of telluric movements.
