Michigan picks up another important player for 2023

Michael Barrett has become the latest Michigan football player to say he will return for 2023.

Let’s say Michael Barrett hasn’t finished his work in Ann Arbor…

After losing the Fiesta Bowl in heartbreaking fashion to TCU’s Horned Frogs, many Michigan Wolverines stars opted to return to school for one last round. The two defending Big Ten champions have yet to win a playoff game under Jim Harbaugh. With Coach Harbaugh returning for a new season, the 2023 Wolverines really feel like they are in the hunt for the title.

Here’s Barrett announcing plans to return to Michigan for his sixth college season.

Michael Barrett will return to Michigan for his sixth year of eligibility.

Barrett not only wants to finish his master’s degree at the University of Michigan, but he also wants to finish what he started on the football team. The Wolverines are expected to be the presumptive favorites to win the Big Ten three times. However, the SEC powerhouse Georgia Bulldogs are also the presumed favorites to win the College Football Playoff National Championship three times.

There is no doubt that these two teams are on the list of teams that can realistically reach and win several playoff games next season. Although no Michigan player has ever won a playoff game, all upperclass players are used to life on the championship stage. The lights may have been too bright in Glendale for JJ McCarthy, but even he will only be a junior.

With players like Blake Corum, Trevor Keegan and Zak Zinter all returning to school, it may have made Barrett’s comeback easier. However, no team in the country faces more pressure next fall than the Wolverines. Georgia is doomed to regress at some point, but now is definitely a good time for Harbaugh’s team to step up when it matters most.

If you have to pick the field over Georgia next year, that field team might be Michigan.
