Michigan man, who won Rs 83 Lakh in lottery, thought friends had played a prank on him

Winning money in the lottery seems like a dream to many. However, when the person wins a huge sum, it is hard to believe. Something similar happened to a man from Michigan who almost missed his chance thinking his friends were playing a prank on him. The man received an email saying he had won a prize of $100,000 (regarding Rs 83 lakh) in a lottery. The 59-year-old Ingham County player said he didn’t even remember entering the draw and hit the jackpot.

The player shared that he received an email saying he had won $100,000 in a second chance lottery game. “I thought it was college buddies playing a trick on me,” he added. The player didn’t even believe it following talking to the lottery office. “I was skeptical regarding everything. Now, sitting here holding a check, I know it’s very real! he stated.

Later, it occurred to the man that he had scanned a non-winning $300,000,000 Diamond Riches scratch ticket on the Michigan Lottery app. He automatically entered it into the September 28 draw.

According to Michigan Lottery Connect, the winner recently went to lottery headquarters to claim the top prize. The man is going to save his winning amount.

Earlier, an elderly couple from Maryland, USA mistakenly bought three identical lottery tickets and ended up winning them all. According to media reports, the tickets were purchased by mistake and all three tickets belonged to the same draw. The couple won a total of $150,000 (around Rs 1,22,82,030).
