In this interview given to the sports newspaper in 2016, Polnareff explained that he was “crazy regarding Pelé” with whom he was able to discuss at length at Régine in New York, at the time when the Brazilian genius had signed up with the legendary Cosmos team of big Apple: “I was surprised to discover how small (1.73 m), adorable and short-sighted he is!” He then asked Pelé how he managed to see the ball: “I can’t see the ball. Bouncing on a response from a tweeter welcoming “his incredible luck to have met him”, Michel Polnareff, replied in his inimitable style, a mixture of narcissism and self-mockery “Him eausea” (Him too).
