In the 1980s, the doctor was also known for his columns on other shows such as 30 million friends, Telematin or even Youth Wednesdaysin which he shared his love of animals and his commitment to animal protection. He also hosted his own program, Earth beware danger, from 1991 to 1995.

His numerous appearances on the small screen have made him one of the most famous veterinarians, having worked all his life to protect the animals he loved so much. In January 2023, he summed up his commitment as follows: “All my life, it was the animals. »

A Resistance fighter during the German occupation

Vice-president of the SPA until 1978, he was behind the creation of the Paris Guide Dog School and participated in the launch of the Thoiry zoo. We also owe him the identification of dogs by tattoo, a measure introduced in 1970 that he proposed to Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas.

Born in 1921 in Romania, Michel Klein studied at the veterinary school in Toulouse. During the Second World War and under the Occupation, he joined the Resistance within the Prunus network, while his parents and sister were deported to Auschwitz.

His career was rewarded in January 1994 with a Legion of Honor presented by the Prime Minister at the time, Édouard Balladur. On Saturday, several personalities paid tribute to him, including producer Jean-Luc Azoulay, who praised “an extraordinary man, a great gentleman”.
