PASOK’s parliamentary representative, Michalis Katrinis, characterizes Anna Michel Asimakopoulou’s decision not to participate in the upcoming European elections as “expected”, following her involvement in the case with emails to expatriate Greeks.
“Ms. Asimakopoulou’s reaction was expected following her awkward silence and is essentially pushed into the obvious, because quite simply what she did insulted the transparency, credibility and rules of an inviolable process.
The personal data of those who want to participate by postal vote suddenly became the property of only one faction or one candidate, and all this creates reasonable questions. Today’s forced decision of Ms. Asimakopoulou to withdraw from the electoral process should have been taken immediately following this case was made public.”
Regarding who is PASOK’s main opponent in the European elections, Michalis Katrinis said: “Our distinct opponent is New Democracy. PASOK makes a documented and reliable opposition to government policies with which it has a radical disagreement. For this reason, the opposition we exercise is disturbing and has been targeted.
We expect and believe that in the upcoming European elections we will be the second force with a significant increase in our percentages.
All opinion polls show that, in relation to the results of the national elections, PASOK has not only stabilized, but has also seen a slight rise, while New Democracy and Syriza show a drop of over 30%”.
