Michaël, 38, was ordered to pay… nearly 300,000 euros!

Michaël Hornung, 38, is an IPTV provider. Unfortunately for him – and as it hangs in the face of other suppliers – the authorities fell on him. A Manchester court on Tuesday issued an order confiscating £258,000, or nearly €300,000, once morest him.

On the run in Cyprus, the Briton has three months to comply with this sentence, reports the Interstars site. If Michaël found refuge on the Mediterranean island, it is in particular to avoid an earlier judgment. He had indeed been sentenced in June to 4 years and six months in prison for the sale and promotion of pirate boxes.

Michaël now faces a prison sentence of 3 additional years.

Kieron Sharp, chief executive of FACT, which protects the content, product and interests of the film and television industries, welcomes the recent conviction of Michaël Hornung. “The confiscation order highlights the consequences of providing illegal streaming services, a serious offense which in this case resulted in a substantial prison sentence and now heavy financial penalties. We are pleased that the court recognized the seriousness of the crime of piracy,” he said in a press release.
