The group’s subsidiary Miba Automation Systems in Aurachkirchen is to supply milling machines needed for the construction of wind turbines to the Dutch Sif Group and the Korean company GS Entec by the end of 2026.
Sif and GS Entec are among the world market leaders for so-called monopiles. These are foundation pipes up to 120 meters high with which the wind towers are anchored to the seabed and which are driven up to 60 meters deep into the ground. To do this, three to five meter long pipe segments are first bent from metal plates in ports, welded, assembled into the monopiles and then taken out to sea by ship.
Miba Automation Systems supplies milling systems for new wind farms in the seas off Europe and Korea to the Sif Group and GS Entec. It also supplies other customers, such as the Korean company Nexteel.
150 million euros
“The large volume of new orders for wind energy from Miba Automation Systems is a prime example of how we are taking advantage of the many opportunities presented by the energy transition,” said Miba CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer. The energy transition is a key growth driver for the company, and Miba now generates 150 million euros with products for the generation and transmission of energy; last year this represented 12 percent of total sales.
