BORÅS. 4–0 once morest Värnamo, full pot and 11–1 in goal difference.

Despite that, Pontus Jansson demands more.

– It feels like we go around 50 percent sometimes, says the team captain.

We knew that Oliver Berg is a Henrik Rydström lover since their time in Kalmar together.

We got an example of how big a favorite he is today when Värnamo took on Malmö in Borås.

When the Norwegian was eligible for the first time in two months to be in the match squad, the MFF coach inserted him directly from the start in midfield and benched Lasse Berg Johnsen, who was praised so much at the start of the season.

Thanking the trust, Berg hit a perfect cross in the 33rd minute to Derek Cornelius at the far post who was able to head the ball into the goal.

By then MFF had already managed to score 1-0 as early as in the sixth minute when Isaac Kiese Thelin masterfully rolled the ball in following a quick, neat attack by MFF.

A goal and two assists for Bothheim

Berg had only played one half in the U21s (last week) in two months, since the cup match once morest Öster.

Berg already expressed to Discovery during the break that there were “many things we can do better”.

Berg was replaced following an hour of play once morest Berg Johnsen.

By then, MFF had managed to score 3–0 through Sebastian Nanasi on a very unselfish play by Erik Botheim, who accounted for his second assist of the evening following also playing to make it 1–0.

Botheim then got to show that he can score as well when he made the final score 4–0 from a Nanasi corner. It was the Norwegian’s second goal in the Allsvenskan.

MFF was in a class of its own when Rydström aired out the squad a bit and let Ricardo Friedrich start in goal for the first time in the Allsvenskan for MFF and put in Sebastian Jörgensen from the start instead of Taha Ali.

– There was a team on the field today. It’s been a long time since we were played out like this, says Victor Larsson in Värnamo to Discovery.

But despite the performance, Pontus Jansson thinks following the match, just like Berg during the break, that MFF can do better. Much better.

– We would have done it even better, of course. It feels like we’re running around 50 percent sometimes. But it was enough, says the team captain.

You are never satisfied?

– Of course you are satisfied: we have won 4-0 and lead the Allsvenskan and everything looks good. you have to be satisfied today, then the focus is on the next match. But that’s what we say: if we want to succeed this year, we have to take it game by game and be focused. So far we have succeeded.

It should be noted that Rydström let in an all-Svenska debutant at the end of the match: 17-year-old Kenan Busoladzic.
