MEXICO CITY (apro).-The Mexican government is preparing an agreement with Colombia and Ecuador similar to the one it signed with Venezuela to give $110 a month for half a year to citizens of those countries who are returned from Mexico, to address migration.

“Colombia has already signed, Ecuador has already signed,” and although it remains to be specified, “it will be the same” as that of Venezuela, it has not been defined when it will begin either.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador indicated that communication is being established with the companies Bimbo and Femsa so that if they have plants in those countries, those who are returned can be integrated, especially young people.

“We have proven that investments in countries with ‘Young people building the future’ and ‘Sowing life’ inhibit, limit, and temper the migratory flow,” he explained.

He added that his administration has made evaluations, “we even have recordings, videos of people who in other countries receive this support and make their testimonies known and that is what we have wanted to convince the rulers of the United States of.”

On the border between Mexico and the United States, up to 12 thousand migrants were registered, which was considered a crisis, and now it has been reduced by half. In addition, he said that his government is willing to support in this way “because it helps us not have so much migration flow, we have to do it and progress is being made.”

President López Obrador criticized American politicians who reject his proposal for the United States to contribute $20 billion a year to Latin American and Caribbean countries.

“It is very difficult, it is easier for them to allocate a lot of money to the war than the little that is needed to confront the migratory flow in another way. It is a difference that we have in the background and they always tell us that ‘we do invest with our agencies’, they give money to civil society in a country, but that does not reach the people, it stays in the bureaucratic apparatus of the organizations of the so-called civil society,” he said.

He also considered that “conservatives only know how to solve everything by force, it is very difficult for an American legislator to be convinced that the immigration and drug problem depends a lot on addressing the causes and that it cannot be resolved with the use of of force or coercive measures because their mentality is different. They have many questions but we consider it to be the best.”

It is better to help migrants, he said, and for them to have work in their towns and places of origin, in terms of effectiveness and above all for humanitarian reasons.

Regarding the criticism that has occurred in Mexico for the agreement signed with Venezuela, he responded: “Conservatives don’t like this. They are never going to accept it, they don’t like anything, especially these days during the hot season. Everything bothers them, they are in a bad mood, I don’t know what is happening, something good must be happening.”

Regarding strategies for Mexican workers who also migrate to the United States, the federal president assured:

“Yes we do, Mexico is the country with the most employment in the world. It is also a very reactionary mentality. We are from the party of universal brotherhood, I don’t think that’s why they are going to sanction us. Nothing human is foreign to us, that is why we are different from reactionaries. They are thinking only of their benefit, they are only absorbed in themselves.”
