Mexico will face Guatemala in a friendly match

MEXICO CITY (AP) — As part of its preparation for a key CONCACAF Nations League game once morest the United States, Mexico will face Guatemala on Wednesday, June 7, in Mazatlán.

The Mexicans will face the Americans on June 15 in Las Vegas for the semifinal of the regional tournament of nations.

The Mexican Soccer Federation announced Wednesday that El Tri will play for the first time in Mazatlán, a city on the Mexican Pacific coast.

Mazatlán has had first division soccer only since 2020, but it has been the birthplace of soccer players such as Héctor Moreno, Luis Romo, Erick Gutiérrez, Jesús Angulo and the retired Francisco Javier “El Maza” Rodríguez, Jared Borgetti and Omar Bravo.

It will be the 37th game in history between Mexicans and Guatemalans. El Tri leads with 23 wins, nine draws and only four losses.

Mexico will have one additional game before facing the United States. They will play Cameroon in San Diego on June 10.
