Thomas Bachpresident of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), received the application from Mexico to host the Olympic Games in 2036-2040.
Through their social networks, Marcelo Ebrardhead of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), shared an image of the letter he sent on March 24 to the President of the COI.
“I share the text of the letter that I delivered this morning to Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, to apply for Mexico to host the 2036-40 Olympic Games,” wrote Marcelo Ebrard.

“The purpose of this visit is to express to you (Thomas Bach) and the IOC, in a formal way, Mexico’s interest in organizing the next Olympic Games in 2036-2040,” the letter reads.
According to Ebrard’s letter, “Mexico has, in various cities and regions, the sports, economic, and hotel infrastructure to celebrate successful, austere, and universal Olympic Games.”
Finally, he stated that the willingness of the Government of Mexico and the Mexican Olympic Committee is total to collaborate with Bach and the IOC in order to carry out the necessary procedures for the application in the event that Mexico is taken into account as a candidate to be campus.
