Mexico finalizes preparations for the Tradewinds 2022 naval exercise

The Navy of mexico held a planning meeting for the naval exercise Tradewinds 2022, to be held next May in the Caribbean. The Marine Secretary (Semar) reported that naval personnel participated in the final planning conference for the multinational exercise Tradewinds 2022which took place in Belize, with the aim of defining the latest agreements, prior to carrying out said training, scheduled to take place next May in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.

As a result of this meeting, which took place from March 21 to 25, both the activities and the scenarios that will be part of this multinational exercise were defined, that is, naval and land operations as a whole.

Tradewinds 2022

In this edition of Tradewinds, Mexico will co-host the exercise for the first time, together with Belize, carrying out riverside operations in Chetumal, with damage control and firefighting, surface and maritime interdiction training; as well as inspection groups at sea, in Cozumel, and humanitarian aid in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

In addition, it is a multinational exercise organized by the United States Southern Command (U.S. Southern Command, Southcom), aimed at promoting international cooperation on regional security in the Caribbean area, through the contribution of Naval Forces, Military and of Security of the countries involved.

This 2022, it is considered to have the participation of more than 20 countries, among which are Belize, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the United States and Mexico, among others.
