Mexico faces heavy rainfall in more than half of its states

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico The country is facing a forecast of heavy rains in Chiapas and Oaxaca in the coming hours, as well as very heavy rains in the other 25 states of the country, it reported on Tuesday.

The National Meteorological Service reported that these weather conditions will be caused by the presence of tropical wave number 10 on the South Pacific coast of Mexico, and tropical wave number 11 on the Yucatan Peninsula and the southeast of the country.

Instability at high atmospheric levels and the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico also have an influence.

Heavy rains of 75 to 150 millimeters are forecast in Chiapas and Oaxaca, as well as very heavy rains of 50 to 75 millimeters in Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Veracruz and Zacatecas.

Heavy rains of 25 to 50 millimeters are expected in Aguascalientes, Campeche, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí and Yucatán. Intervals of showers of 5 to 25 millimeters are also forecast in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Tlaxcala.

Winds with gusts of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in Baja California, Baja California Sur, as well as in the Gulf and Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. There is also the possibility of whirlwinds forming in Chihuahua and Sonora.

Wind gusts of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected on the coast of Jalisco, with the possibility of dust storms in Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, as well as the formation of whirlwinds in Coahuila, which might cause trees and billboards to fall.
