Mexico deported the “Queen of the South” to the US, accused of drug trafficking

Amanda Rachelle Miller, alias ‘La Reina del Sur’, linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, has been extradited from Mexico to the United States, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona reported on Friday.

According to the official statement, Amanda Rachelle, detained in Culiacán, Sinaloa, was deported on May 30 to the United States, where she faces charges for drug trafficking crimes, among others.

The 33-year-old woman is a U.S. citizen and had been a fugitive from justice for approximately three and a half years at the time of her arrest in Mexico. “Miller made her initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Rateau on July 3, 2024, and was ordered detained in custody,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Federal agents first encountered Miller in late 2020 in what authorities said was “the culmination of an investigation into narcotics distribution taking place at several motels in the Tucson area.” She was arrested at a downtown Tucson hotel on Nov. 12, 2020, as she attempted to flee the scene. She then fled to Mexico while on parole.
