Mexico carries out an audit with a view to authorizing the entry of Paraguayan beef into its market

Asunción, IP Agency.- This week an audit of technicians from the National Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality Service (Senasica) of Mexico is taking place in Paraguay, with a view to authorizing the entry of Paraguayan beef into the Mexican market.

The audit will conclude next Tuesday, May 14, the date on which a closing meeting is scheduled with the entire technical team involved and Senacsa authorities.

It is “quite comprehensive” and includes visits to export slaughterhouses, livestock establishments, zonal units, Fundassa offices, laboratories, the isolation station of the National Service for Animal Quality and Health (Senacsa), as well as entry and exit points into the country. .

They are also auditing the five official laboratories of Senacsa and the private ones that are within the veterinary laboratory control system and form part of the vaccine production and food control chain, reported from Senacsa.

The coverage covers the entire national territory, including the main livestock areas of the country in the south and north of the Eastern region and the Paraguayan Chaco area.

The audit began last Monday, May 6, with a meeting attended by Senacsa President José Carlos Martin, Mexican Ambassador to Paraguay Juan Manuel Nungaray and Deputy Minister of Economic Relations and Integration Wilma Patricia Frutos, among others other authorities.

The SENASICA delegation is headed by the head of the mission of Zootechnic Veterinary Doctors (MVZ), and made up of Marcos Molina, Andrés Josafat Iniesta, Rogelio Medina, Irma Yolanda Delgado, Ángel Emmanuel Romero and Mario Solís.

The president of the Paraguayan Meat Chamber, Randy Ross, had highlighted that Mexico is an interesting destination that imports a considerable amount of meat.

In 2023, Mexico registered a new high in meat imports, while sales abroad decreased by 12.2%

The main nations that supplied the Mexican market during 2023 were the United States, Canada, Nicaragua, Brazil and Australia.
