The Mexican Yareli Acevedo won her first medal this Thursday in Santiago for her country in the women’s omnium track cycling modality of the 2023 Pan American Games.
Acevedo dominated the four tests that make up the omnium – they are scratch, time, elimination race and points race – accumulating a total of 128 pointsin a competition that takes place at the Peñalolén Velodrome.
With this, The Mexican delegation gets its fourth gold of the day and reached 30 gold in the medal table in just six days of competition.
The silver went to the Colombian Lina Marcela Hernández, who obtained 121 points and the Chilean Catalina Soto took the bronze with 120.
In other tests held this Thursday, Trinidadian Nicholas Paul revalidated the gold medal at the Pan American Games in the time trial mode.
Paul, 25, the world time trial record holder, easily beat Surinamese Jair Tjon En Fa.
The bronze was won by Colombian Kevin Quinterowho won the same metal in Lima 2019 in this event, beating the Canadian Nicholas Wammes.
This Friday the finals of the women’s madison and sprint, men’s team pursuit, men’s keirin and men’s madison events will be held.
