Mexican peso surprises the world: it is the strongest currency against the dollar

The The Mexican peso ranked this Wednesday morning as the strongest currency once morest the dollar by accumulating an advance of 5.38 percent or 1 peso and 10 cents.

“The Mexican peso is the most appreciated currency in the year, but Mexico is one of the economies that has taken the longest to recover, evidence that the good performance of the currency has been supported mainly by the external sector,” said the expert on issues economic, Gabriela Siller.

According to the report, -in the accumulated in the year to December 28- this Wednesday the Brazilian real registered a gain of 5.24 percent and the Peruvian sol of 4.55 percent.

How has the Mexican peso winning streak been?

If the winning streak continues, Mexico’s currency will shine and consolidate as the strongest once morest the greenback, as in the months it showed gains:

  • February (+0.81%).
  • March (+2.93%).
  • Mayo (+3.77%).
  • August (+1.12%).
  • October (+1.62%).
  • November (+2.74%).

November was positioned as the first month in which the exchange rate was listed below 20 pesos per dollar in all sessions, this had not been seen since February 2020, according to information from analyst Gabriela Siller.

The ‘dark side’ occurred in the following months -when it depreciated-:

  • January (-0.52%).
  • April (-2.81%).
  • June (-2.35%).
  • Julio (-1.24%).
  • December (-0.93%).

The analyst details that the ‘winning’ behavior of the Mexican peso responds to historic remittance flows and exports.
