MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican Navy Training Ship ARM Cuauhtémoc BE-01, the sailing ship of the Mexican Navy Secretariat (SEMAR in Spanish), also known as the “Ambassador of the Seas”, will dock at the port of Jakarta, as part of the annual Training Tour of the Mexican Navy Cadets.
ARM Cuauhtémoc’s tour of Asia and Oceania is aimed at conveying a message of peace among nations, symbolizing Mexico’s commitment to fostering international goodwill.
ARM Cuauhtémoc’s visit to Indonesia has a very important meaning, because this is the first time ARM Cuauhtémoc has visited Indonesia, and it coincides with the commemoration of Mexico’s 214th Independence Day this month, which falls on September 16.
This year also marks the 71st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Indonesia, a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
As a country with significant maritime heritage in the Pacific Ocean, Mexico is committed to international law, respect for sovereignty, and regional stability.
Additionally, Cuauhtémoc’s arrival also comes at a crucial moment as the two countries are negotiating a Letter of Intent (LoI) on defense cooperation, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
