To discuss common issues, as well as to build and strengthen ties between prosecutors and prosecutors to combat cross-border crime, the Attorney General of Mexico City, Ernestina Godoy Ramos, participated in the United States-Mexico Binational Summit, which took place held April 17 and 18 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The binational meeting focused on two overarching themes: how attorneys general can effectively handle cases and the impact of fentanyl, both in Mexico and the United States.
The summit brought together 17 attorneys general from Mexico and 18 from the United States of America, who also addressed issues such as decision-making, as well as how to effectively investigate and prosecute cases.
Because fentanyl was one of the central issues, the organizers dedicated a session accompanied by experts, with the aim that the attorneys general of both nations contributed to the discussion with their points of view and exchange of experiences.
Peer-to-peer discussions also focused on the Diagnostic Mapping Process Tool project, which provides information on how, and in what context, Mexican state prosecutors/attorneys general make key decisions throughout the criminal justice process and the factors that influence those decisions. decisions; this included three aspects of public policy: normative, institutional and individual.
Said project helps both the Prosecutor’s Offices and the State Department to understand the needs and areas of opportunity, as well as offer effective and personalized assistance to citizens, aimed at improving the efficient and effective operation of prosecution activities.
On behalf of Mexico, prosecutors and attorneys general from Campeche, Chiapas, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Yucatán were summoned.
In the case of the United States, the attorneys general of Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Mariana Islands, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
