In a coordinated effort, The Metropolitan Police carried out a ‘Megatake’ in the capital of the Atlantic and its metropolitan area, deploying more than 150 police officers of various specialties.
The main objective was to capture criminal actors who threaten citizen security.
The initial results of the operation show the arrest of 26 people in flagrante delicto, accused of crimes ranging from illegal possession of firearms, theft, drug trafficking, trademark falsification, among others. Two of those arrested must answer for extortion.
During the ‘Megatoma’, 11 firearms were seized, and 12,716 background checks were carried out on people and 11,373 on vehicles.
In addition, 200 summonses were imposed for violation of the National Code of Security and Citizen Coexistence, and 28 people were taken to the Specialized Services Unit.
In traffic matters, 210 summonses were issued for violations of the National Traffic Code, with seven vehicles and 27 motorcycles immobilized.
