This Thursday, the Santiago Metro provided details of its operational and safety plan for 2024, given the arrival of March and the increase in travel in the capital.

The holidays are already over and this Friday the third month of the year begins, which brings the return to classes in most of the schools in the Metropolitan region.

This will inevitably bring an increase in movements in the city, which will increase the number of Metro passengers.

The general manager of the subway train, Felipe Bravo, pointed out that for the state company “safety and general conditions of service are fundamental.” For this reason, “we have prepared a special plan” before the arrival of March.

As detailed, there will be 13% more train supply, which will reduce the waiting time between each car by 10%.

In addition, assistance staff during peak hours will be reinforced by 7%.

Along with this, Bravo indicated that there are currently 1,900 people dedicated to security, including private security guards, tactical and traditional guards, which will increase by 9% this year, to have a greater presence this year.
