Metavers. Mark Zuckerberg wants to launch Meta’s first augmented reality glasses in 2024

Since Facebook became Meta, the company has been massively developing augmented reality technologies. With this in mind, Mark Zuckerberg is working to meet the 2024 deadline to release a first version of augmented reality glasses, an essential tool for penetrating the famous Metaversreports 01net.

Until now, only the Meta Quest, a virtual and non-augmented reality headset, was available. Thus, Meta would plan a first generation in 2024, then a second in 2026 and, finally, a third in 2028. With this new technology, Meta hopes to restore the somewhat tarnished image of Facebook in recent years, mainly due to scandals related to private user data.

Codename: “Project Nazare”

If the characteristics of these high-tech glasses remain unknown for the time being, we know its code name: “Project Nazare”. Wireless, equipped with a separate case and independent of the smartphone, the glasses promise to enter the world of 3D thanks to “3D graphics, a wide field of vision and an attractive design”according to 01net.

However, Mark Zuckerberg would have put such pressure on engineers that departures and job changes could curb his ambitions. Another problem: the price of these glasses could far exceed that of the Meta Quest helmets (349 €) and make it very inaccessible to the general public.
