Metalpren: Expanding Manufacturing Capacity for Metal Containers and Lids

The Peruvian Metalpren, dedicated to the manufacture of all types of metal containers and lids, aims to strengthen its manufacturing capacity, through the implementation of two production lines and more equipment in its plant, with an investment that exceeds $4 million.

Through a technical report, the company informed the Ministry of Production (Produce) regarding three projects, whose execution would take place in the next two months. Two of the initiatives are focused on the implementation of a line of CANTEC caps, as well as the installation of a second line called Shin I – 2, whose objective is the manufacture of containers and caps.

Currently, the production of containers and caps is 300 epm (containers per minute), so the installation of the Shin I – 2 line will enhance the existing one (Shin I). The CANTEC line of caps will have a similar condition, which will have a capacity of more than 2,000 tpm (caps per minute).

The third project refers to the conditioning of a palletizing machine (equipment that helps to move the merchandise within the plant) in order to increase the assembly of pallets from 1,000 to 1,200 tons per year.

In dialogue with Gestión, the general manager of Metalpren, Danilo Balarín, had already advanced an investment package focused on the national and international market.

“First, to meet the unsatisfied demand in Peru due to the significant growth that the items we supply have had, since today we are limited in our attention. And, second, to strengthen our presence in countries where we have not yet been so aggressive due to lack of capacity. We are talking regarding Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Central America, Argentina and, as a new market, Mexico for next year,” the executive said at the time.

The company’s main clients are in the fishing, agro-industrial, automotive, veterinary, soft drinks and beverage sectors, as well as home care.
