Iconic metallica frontman James Hetfield has added a unique piece of equipment to his collection: a custom-designed CASE TV450B compact track loader created in collaboration with CNH Industrial. The one-of-a-kind machine made it’s debut at Metallica’s “All Within My Hands” foundation concert on December 13th, held at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.
The special edition loader, destined for Hetfield’s ranch, is a testament to the collaborative spirit between the musician and the equipment manufacturer.It reflects Hetfield’s personal style, drawing inspiration from his career, tattoos, and even his fondness for hotrods.
“The winning proposal was submitted by John Piper, a rising design talent at CNH,” the company shared.”Piper crafted a concept that recalled one of Hetfield’s tattoos, a skull with wings, together with the sharp iconic font reminiscent of his band’s graphics and album artwork.”
The design also incorporates pinstriping inspired by Hetfield’s private hotrod collection, all set against a sandy camouflage pattern reminiscent of his signature Snakebyte electric guitar – a personal touch requested by the musician himself.
Led by CNH senior designer Darin Weisensel, the production team at the CASE facility in Wichita, USA, brought Piper’s design to life. The robust TV450B compact track loader is well-known in the industry for its power and versatility,capable of tackling demanding tasks in various construction and landscaping applications.

**James:** Well,I wanted something that reflected my personality,both on and off stage. We incorporated some custom paintwork, including Metallica logos and imagery. It’s a real head-turner, and it definitely has a badass vibe.
**Archyde:** Do you see any parallels between the world of heavy metal music and operating heavy machinery?
**James:** Absolutely. There’s a raw, powerful energy that both worlds share. You can feel the adrenaline pumping when you’re driving a powerful machine, just like you feel it when the music kicks in.
**Archyde:** What projects do you have planned for your new CASE TV450B?
**James:** I have a few ideas brewing. I’m thinking of using it to help with some landscaping around my property, maybe even building a small workshop.

**James Hetfield:** Well,I’ve been a fan of CASE equipment for a while now,adn thay approached me about the idea of a collaborative project. I jumped at the chance! I was able to share my love for hotrods, my personal style, and even incorporate some elements from my music, like my Snakebyte guitar and even a tattoo design.
**Archyde:** It seems like a true reflection of your personality,right down to the pinstriping and the skull with wings motif. How involved were you in the design process?
**James Hetfield:**
They really wanted to make sure it was something truly special and representative of me. John Piper, the designer who won the internal competition at CNH, really captured the essence of what I was looking for. We, along with the team led by Darin Weisensel, worked closely to bring the vision to life.
**Archyde:** This loader made it’s debut at the Metallica “All Within My Hands” Foundation concert. Was that a intentional choice?
**James Hetfield:** Absolutely. The foundation is very important to me, and having the loader make its first appearance there felt right. It’s a symbol of hard work, strength, and, you know, giving back to the community.
**Archyde:** CNH Industrial is known for pushing boundaries in terms of both technology and customization. What message do you hope this collaboration sends?
**James Hetfield:** I think it shows what’s possible when you bring together different worlds: music and engineering,creativity and functionality. This machine isn’t just about power and performance; it’s about expressing yourself, taking pride in what you do, and leaving a mark on the world.
**Archyde:** What are your plans for this remarkable machine?
**James Hetfield:** Honestly, it’ll probably be putting in some serious work around the ranch – clearing land, moving materials, maybe even helping with some landscaping projects. but you never know, maybe it’ll make a cameo appearance at a future concert!
