Sixth round of negotiations with FMTI interrupted without result

Vienna (OTS) The sixth round of negotiations between the PRO-GE and GPA unions and the Metal Technology Industry Association (FMTI) for the metal industry collective agreement was also interrupted after eleven hours of negotiations without a result. The offer for wage and salary increases, at an average of six percent, is still significantly too low. The real wage losses of employees, fueled by the high double-digit price increases in the past, would be enormous.

The PRO-GE and GPA unions will now significantly increase the number of hits as announced. The unions are calling for one-day strikes in around 200 companies in the metal technology industry (FMTI) until November 17th. “It is enough. We tried everything at the negotiating table. After a marathon negotiation lasting seven weeks, employers are still not willing to put a fair offer on the table for sustainable wage and salary increases. The willingness to strike is huge and they are now feeling it,” say the employees’ two chief negotiators, Reinhold Binder (PRO-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA).

The strike goals include: A wage and salary increase of 11.6 percent. The payment of strike hours by the striking companies. Agreeing on a further hearing date.
