Metalite – Expedition One
Origin: Sweden
Release: 19.01.2024
Label: AFM Records
Duration: 01:07:33
Genre: Melodic Metal
The Swedish modern metalers from Metalite release their latest work not too long following their last big hit Expedition One on the market. With 16 tracks and over an hour of playing time, the album is already well above average, at least in quantitative terms. If the amount of time is then used in an entertaining way, nothing would stand in the way of a successful release.
And here too the band takes us into futuristic cyber worlds, which are accompanied by the corresponding synth melodies. Already with the opener and title track Expedition One It shows that there is still a feeling for catchy choruses that border on being suitable for radio. Next comes along Aurora a real highlight of the album, because not only are the tried and tested strengths played out here, but also pressing grooves are unpacked, so that the number is comparatively powerful.
Futuristischer Cyber Metal
CtrlAltDel Most of the time it also seems darker and more oppressive than you might be used to from the band. The happy melodic chorus shouldn’t be missing here either, but otherwise the song thrives on the instrumental pressure and tempo. Completely contrary to Blazing Skiesthat in advance HERE was published and that if you listen to it too often it can cause diabetes. But this short trip to candy land seems to be the case Outer Worlds to be over once more. The number’s approach is comparatively dark. New Generationthat you HERE can listen, on the other hand, takes its foot off the gas once more and focuses a little more on drama and anthem ability.
Concept solidly implemented
The rest of the album also creates a lot of variety without leaving out the cyber theme as an anchor point. Songs like Paradise or Hurricane They almost exaggerate the use of electro influences a bit, but if you like that kind of thing it’s pretty great. With Utopia There is also an instrumental ballad that lasts over three and a half minutes and otherwise you constantly switch between rock-like passages, wild lead riffs and pressing grooves.
Conclusion
Metalite put with Expedition One take another step in their now well-found niche and deliver a total of 16 rock-solid numbers. Anyone who liked the predecessor or who generally enjoys a bit more rocky metal and is open to new influences will also enjoy this one. There are very good ones here 8,5 / 10
