(CNN) A metal straw dubbed a “vampire straw” was found in a passenger’s carry-on at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, last week. State police confiscated it as a dangerous weapon and arrested the passengers.

A 26-year-old man boarded the plane from Chicago, Illinois, on April 23, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

“Vampire straws” are allowed in checked luggage in some states, but are prohibited in Massachusetts, the official said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of violating a state law banning the carrying of “sharp instruments” such as daggers, state police said. His name has not been released.

The photo released by the person in charge shows a metal straw with a pointy end. It bears the logo of Sabo, a manufacturer of rice knives.

Sabo’s website sells a titanium “vampire straw” for $85. According to the explanation, the straw is 25 centimeters long, and it is strong and long enough to be used like a dagger for self-defense purposes, as well as being able to easily drink strong drinks such as shakes and smoothies. It will be made to order in the USA.
