Metal Gear Solid 3: 18 years later, a glitch discovered to pass a (long) cult sequence

Game news Metal Gear Solid 3: 18 years later, a glitch discovered to pass a (long) cult sequence

Metal Gear Solid 3 is cult in many ways and truth be told, there’s more than one completely legitimate reason. We can notably cite its unique staging, imagined by Hideo Kojima and offering certain legendary scenes… but perhaps a little long for some.

MGS3, always in the news

All those who have done Metal Gear Solid 3 (and there are a bunch of them) certainly remember the sequence of the ladder, considered cult for the simple idea of its rhythm and its staging: then in an underground complex, Big Boss must climb an almost endless ladder for more than two minutes, without stopping, to the point of causing real misunderstanding in the player. As the only accompaniment, an acapella version of the game’s main theme.

Eighteen years following the release of the title on PlayStation 2, a player named Apel has just published a glitch allowing to skip this scene: by playing with his equipment and the controls, he then manages to put Snake in “T-Pose”, so as to pass through the walls… and land directly at the top of the building. So of course, it’s only two minutes saved, but it always seems surprising to see tricks detected almost two decades later. This discovery is also beginning to be widely shared on the web.

In any case, this is the persistent rumor that has been circulating for a good year now: Konami would prepare a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. Well, not himself, but would have made an order with from an external studio called Virtuos. This Asian firm is particularly specialized in ports, since having worked on those of Bioshock : The Collection, Horizon : Zero Dawn – Complete Edition, Battlefield 1 or the one on Switch from Dark Souls Remastered.

It would not be the only franchise that Konami would like to resuscitate. since it is very seriously rumored that two Silent Hill projects are in the works as well as another Castlevania. All you have to do is wait patiently for a formalization… or a denial.
