The Internet company “Meta”, based in Menlo Park in California, worked up a sweat on Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of users worldwide were logged out of their accounts on the platforms “Facebook”, “Instagram” and “Threads” from around 4 p.m. Attempts to log in once more fail, and passwords cannot be changed.
Since 4 p.m., reports have been received every second on the platform www.allestoerungen.at: there were more than 7,500 on Facebook in an hour, and a good 6,300 on Instagram. On the X platform (formerly Twitter), users from all over the world reported problems.
Registrations possible once more
The problem should now have been resolved: registrations have been possible once more since around 5:30 p.m. The exact cause of the mass logouts and the associated login problems was still unclear. It was also not clear whether it was just a software error or a server failure, or whether “Meta” had to do with cyber attacks and the user’s data security was at risk.
In a short post on The concert initially lacked an explanation for the disruption.
