Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Meta has just released a feature to reset the Instagram algorithm. This feature, which is currently being tested, will be able to be applied to all content that appears on the platform.
The technology giant argued that the features were aimed especially at teenagers. So they can have a new way of using their Instagram account.
“We want to give teenagers a new way to create their Instagram experience, so it can reflect their interests and desires according to their development,” explained Meta in his statement, Friday (22/11/2024).
“That’s why we started testing the ability on Instagram, including for teens, to reset recommendations. With just a few clicks, you can delete recommended content in Explore, Reels, and Feed, and start from scratch,” the company added.
When the feature option is activated, content will be displayed based on the content and account used. Users also have the option of reviewing each account they follow and unfollowing them so they cannot see the content they share.
Meta promises that this feature will be available globally as soon as possible. Here’s how to reduce recommendations from Instagram:
- Open the Instagram application
- Enter the Profile menu
- Press the triple dot line icon
- Klik Content Preferences
- Pilih Reset Suggested Content
- A notification will appear that the recommended content has been reset
In the same statement, Meta said it also has a number of other features to help users’ experience of using Instagram. One of them is choosing the topics you want to see in the application.
This feature for teenagers has been launched in several countries, namely the United States, England, Canada and Australia.
Apart from that, there is also a feature for users to share anything they want not to see in recommendations. Users just have to select the ‘Not Interested’ or ‘Not Interested’ option from the menu or use the hidden words feature.

Meta’s “Reset” Feature: Because Teens Need Yet Another Button to Distract Themselves!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Oh, lads and lasses! Grab your phones and put on your thinking caps because Meta has rolled out a feature that’s sure to light up the teenager in all of us: the Instagram algorithm reset button! Yes, folks, this is what we needed – a digital do-over for those late-night surfing sessions where you end up liking photos of hedgehogs in capes instead of your planned aesthetic. Brilliant!
So, apparently, this fancy new feature is specifically designed for teenagers. Because when you think of teen angst, you think “let’s give them *more* control over their chaotic feeds”. Who knew that alongside their existential crises, they needed to have a say in their cat memes and influencer drama?
Meta, in their infinite wisdom, has stated, “We want to give teenagers a new way to create their Instagram experience.” Right, because navigating social pressures just *wasn’t* complicated enough before. Who needs a balanced diet when you can just feast on a buffet of self-curated chaos? There’s a fine line between being a digital influencer and being influenced by the digital; let’s hope they find it.
How to Reset Your Recommendations: A Journey of Self-Discovery
Now, before you dive headfirst into this pixelated wonderland, allow me to guide you through this new feature with poise and dignity—much like an egg on a seesaw:
- Open the Instagram application (it’s that colorful app with the camera icon, not the one that’s just full of food pictures… wait, that doesn’t help).
- Enter the Profile menu, the lovely little corner where you can admire yourself.
- Press the triple dot line icon—yes, three dots. Just like your future, it’s full of options!
- Click on Content Preferences. Preferably, content that doesn’t make you question your life choices!
- Select Reset Suggested Content (trust me, you’re doing them a favor).
- Voilà! A notification will pop up, declaring that your ‘recommended content has been reset’—much like your hopes of a good night’s sleep after scrolling for three hours.
Now let’s talk about Meta’s other shiny features. Apparently, you can now select the topics you want to see. I mean, who wouldn’t want to sift through a personalized turret of content? Want to see more dog videos and fewer conspiracy theories? Congratulations, your wish is Meta’s command. It’s like a digital genie that only grants semi-useful wishes!
This feature has already launched in the glamorous lands of the USA, England, Canada, and Australia – because who needs the rest of us in the testing phase? They’ve also introduced a “Not Interested” option. You can now elegantly swipe away those unwanted recommendations, actively ignoring suggestions in a way that some might say is a reflection of real life. The irony is not lost, is it?
So, there you have it, followers of the social media rollercoaster! Meta is attempting to redefine the Instagram experience for teens, but let’s be honest: we could all use a reset button from time to time. Whether it’s in social media or life in general, who wouldn’t want a chance to hit refresh? Just be careful not to accidentally unfollow your dog account while you’re at it—they are the true MVPs of the internet!
Now let’s wait and see how long it takes for their carefully curated ‘content resets’ to turn into chaos again. Because remember: once you give control to teenagers, they’re like cats in a room full of laser pointers!
Stay tuned, and may your feeds be ever in your favor!
