Meta (formerly Facebook) is said to be continuing development of the smartwatch. In June of last year, foreign media such as Bloomberg reported that “Meta has stopped developing smartwatches to develop other types of wearables.”
However, Android developer Kuba Wojciechowski (@Za_Raczke) released an image of the smartwatch obtained from a source, saying “Meta is developing a new version of the smartwatch.”
According to the images, the design of the second-generation smartwatch is almost identical to the earlier model. “The new smartwatch is very similar to the previously leaked device,” Wojciechowsk said. “There seems to be some changes to the rear sensor arrangement and some cosmetic differences, but it’s not much different, and the general detachable form factor is the same.”
In addition, the second-generation meta smartwatch runs on a custom version of Android, not a Qualcomm processor and Wear OS. However, information related to the release of the second-generation meta smartwatch has not yet been confirmed.
